A Primitive Methodist Chapel was opened at Silkstone Common in 1868.  The building, now a dwelling house, still exists at the western end of the village. The present Chapel, with a more central position, was opened in 1931. In recent years the premises have been modernized and, in the absence of a village hall, are much in demand, from a wide range of community groups.  In 2008 members of Silkstone Parish Church began using the Huscar Room within our premises for Thursday communion services. To celebrate the Millennium funds were raised by members and the community and a clock was placed above the front porch of the Chapel.
