Staincross Methodist Church opened in December 2001.

It was built to replace 2 churches; Greenside and

Barnsley Road Methodist churches. The new church was

built on the site of the old Miners' Welfare Club. The club

had closed in the 1980s shortly after the closure of the

near by colliery. The church is well situated on Blacker Rd

in the middle of the villages of Staincross and Mapplewell.
