Dodworth Holiday Bible Club — Monday 4th to Friday 8th August
Theme: Scripture Union: Mega Makers!
This year was somewhat different than usual as we had fewer children and the age range had dropped. However, all the helpers said that they enjoyed smaller groups as it gave them time to speak with and get to know the children. It also meant that each child was able to complete their craft, card, cooking within the allotted period and as a result nearly all the items produced were taken home by the children. We opened each day from 9.30am to 12.30pm. In our system the groups, this year we named them Hammers, Chisels, Spanners, Pliers, Jig-Saws, and Bradawls move round to their various activities. We start with a 40 minute welcome and teaching time and end with a 30 minute coming together and goodbye session. Both have songs, interactive power point, physical activities and this year we had a Giant Mega Machine turning bread rolls into loaves; peas into cabbages; paper boats into a mega blocks boat; small Cornflakes packet into very big Crunchy Nut Cornflake packet; a chocolate into 6 boxes of chocolates and a party popper into a 50 party hooters! What a racket!!!
