It was a privilege for representatives of Shafton, Great Houghton and Brierly to be invited to a reception at the Town Hall hosted by the Mayor of Barnsley. We joined with friends from other Churches in the area and local Councillors. The mayor offered a formal welcome and then in a short speech thanked the churches for their service to local communities. After refreshments we were then given a tour of the Town Hall having the opportunity to sit in the Council Chamber, to see the Mayors Parlour and also to have explained many of the displays and treasurers of the borough.
